Brush me, Floss me or Lose me
2015. Performance and Installation. CCA, Glasgow UK.
Brush me, Floss me or Lose me is a performance and installation, developed by Ashill which deals with the difficulties of ageing and establishing a sense of belonging. Loosely based on George Orwell’s novel Coming Up for Air, Ashill’s work focuses on the book's protagonist, George Bowling. He is a fat, middle-aged man who experiences an identity crisis after acquiring his first set of false teeth.
Kathryn Ashill is ageing, and also yearning for the same sense of belonging as George. She still has all her own teeth.
