The Chorus (My Cat Killed Me in a Past Life)
2014. The Reid Gallery, GSA, Glasgow, UK.
Performance duration: 10 minutes.
A group of women, dressed uniformly in lilac and gold gowns with painted cat motifs, create a tight V-shape formation in the centre of the gallery. A banner with a cats face hangs over them as they present their choral ode:
"My Cat Killed me in a Past Life".
The narrative deals with themes of faith, regression and the human need for a mystical history.
I composed the text from an appropriated real life story printed in Britain's No.1 real life women's weekly magazine;
Take A Break.*
