Mother Time

During 'Mother Time' 2012 Time Square, NYC, Ashill stood motionless, closed her eyes and proceeded to count ten minutes out in seconds. Her mothers broken travellers watch and a lump of amethyst were held in the palms of her hand during the performance. The work reacted to the site; a busy pedestrian meeting point, and subjective experiences of time passing.

This work was repeated and commissioned as a response to Mexican artist Teresa Margolles' installation; Plancha, for Artes Mundi5 prize at the National Museum of Wales.
